The "red" Sufi Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, the most popular Muslim saint in all of Pakistan, has a unique presence as a powerful icon. His images create aesthetic spaces at Sufi shrines, in public places as well as in people's homes.
The lecture will be held by Professor Jürgen Wasi Frembgen, Munich State Museum of Ethnology and Institute of Near and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Munich.
Organised by the 'Muslim devotional practices, aesthetics and cultural formation in migrancy' funded by the Research Council of Norway, and part of the CMI Cultures and Politics of Faith Cluster.
