Astri Suhrke, emerita research professor at CMI, is internationally renowned for her research on Afghanistan, and her contributions to the field of refugee studies, conflict and statebuilding. She started working at CMI in the early 1990s and has had a long and productive career that has contributed significantly to our international standing.
On June 15 and 16 we host a symposium to honour her and her legacy. The symposium brings together many of Suhrke’s close collaborators over the decades and is co-organized by Mats Berdal from Kings College, London, and Torunn Wimpelmann at CMI. The symposium starts with an open event featuring the keynote ‘Violence, Conflict, Development: What’s new? Thinking and talking through ideas and practice, 2000-2023’ by Chris Cramer, professor at SOAS.
You are welcome to join us for an interesting discussion in Bergen Global on June 15 at 9:30.
