Aditya V. Bahadur new member of the Board at CMI
Aditya V. Bahadur has been appointed new external member of the Board at the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) from 1 January 2025. Bahadur is Director of the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre in India.
Aditya V. Bahadur has nearly two decades of experience in working on climate change and development with governments, international agencies, research institutes and local civil society organisations. This is a good fit with CMI’s research profile and strategic plan to expand its engagement with the serious challenges humanity faces related to climate change and the increasing number of conflicts around the world.

Aditya V. Bahadur has an MA and PhD in development studies and has completed a post-doctoral programme on urban climate resilience. He has a global reputation as a policy researcher and thought leader who has contributed to the IPCC, published articles in high-ranking academic journals and written the book ‘Resilience Reset’ published on Routledge in 2022.
Bahadur has a wealth of national and international networks with donor and funding organisations that are relevant to CMI’s mission and sustainability. He has worked in close partnership with organisations in global North and developing economies. Before he became Director of the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, he was Principal Researcher at International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in the UK.
Bahadur also has extensive experience of serving on boards, including that of Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, Participatory Research in Asia, Ground Truth Solutions, the Adaptation Research Alliance and Weathering Risk.
Aditya V. Bahadur succeeds Andrew Norton when his second term as external board member lapses 31.12.2024.
