Join us in Bergen on March 18th at 3:00 pm, where Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will deliver a keynote address. A panel discussion between Deputy Minister Kravik and leading scholars with expertise and lived experience from the Global South will follow.

In recent years, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for a more just and equitable world order rooted in respect for international law and increased representation for the Global South. These calls have been described as too radical and activist by others in Norway, who argue that Norway must prioritize the cultivation of its ties to more conventional allies.

With Western alliances under unprecedented strain, we aim to reframe this debate by examining the Ministry’s vision in greater depth and incorporating perspectives from the Global South.

What are the key aspects of a ruled-based and equitable world and how can such a global order be achieved?  What are common-  and divergent- interests between Norway and different parts of the Global South?
