Human rights conference 1998

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the United Nations' Declaration of Human Rights, conference held at the CMI addressed issues related to human rights in the face of wide-spread and systematic abuse. A central concern related to the use of truth commissions and criminal tribunals to deal with systematic violations of human rights. Norwegian and international human rights and political science experts participated, as did representatives from the local press and political parties.
The conference was a co-operation between Raftostiftelsen, FN- Sambandet i Norge/ Vestlandsavdelingen, Faculty of Law at the University of Bergen and CMI.
