Shire River management project: environmental assessment

After years of drought, the water levels of Lake Malawi and Shire River have decreased considerably, which may in its turn have dramatic consequences for the electricity supplies in Malawi as a whole. Supported by the World Bank, the Malawi Government wishes to establish a system to better control and monitor the water flow in the Shire River. As part of this effort, CMI served as a subcontractor in an environmental assessment of this project.
