The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commissioned the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) and CMI to carry out a study on how Norwegian NGOs contribute to building civil society. Save the Children's effort in Ethiopia and FORUT's work in Sri Lanka have been chosen as case studies. CMI is responsible for the Ethiopian case study. The project undertakes a study of the civil society aspects of Norwegian NGO work in Ethiopia. In addition to reporting on these relationships, CMI has prepared a report to suggest how Norwegian NGOs can report on results in terms of such civil society issues, in addition to reporting on impacts of their primary activities.
