A seminar was organised by Norad on "Job creation, decent work and skills development"  with presentations by Viola Asri (CMI), Srinivas Reddy and Christine Hofmann (International Labour Organization).

Viola Asri's presentation focused on the existing evidence on youth economic empowerment intervention in developing countries:

Millions of young people around the world enter the labor market every year but struggle to find gainful employment. This is especially concerning in regions in the Global South with a relatively young population. Governments and development organisations need to act while considering existing causal evidence. This presentation provides an overview of the existing evidence on the effectiveness of both traditional active labor market programs such as skilling programs as well as non-traditional programs such as transport subsidies. Building on the existing research, this review derives policy recommendations and highlights directions for future research.
