Economist focusing on natural resource management and adaptation to climate change.
Päivi Lujala is Professor of Geography and Academy of Finland Research Fellow, with a background from both human geography and economics, at the Geography Research Unit, University of Oulu, Finland. She holds a PhD in Economics from Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Her research focuses on two broad topics: management of valuable natural resources in the global South and adaption to climate (change) related natural hazards. Her recent research on natural resources has focused on citizen engagement, transparency, and accountability in natural resource revenue management. Her climate change-related research seeks to understand how people perceive risk, vulnerability, and resilience in the context of climate change and natural hazards.
