Merima Ali has a research focus on development, state capacity, and taxation policy. Ali has worked at the World Bank as part of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Program. She also worked at a local research institute – the Ethiopian Development Research Institution and was a visiting researcher at IFPRI in Washington DC. Currently, Ali is affiliated with the Department of Economics at Syracuse University (USA) where she gives courses in international development..
