Political scientist focusing on information and information technologies in political systems in sub-Saharan Africa.
Pauline Lemaire studies how states control, manipulate, and share information within and beyond their borders, and how this affects citizens political engagement. She is the project corrdinator of "ARM: The Long Arms of Auhoritarian States", a project funded by Horizon Europe programme. She also regularly contributes to evaluations of the management of aid programmes. Prior to joining CMI, she worked as a consultant in the fields of political and security risk.
She obtained a PhD in Comparative Politics and a Master's degree in Democracy Building at the Department of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen. She also holds a Master's degree in International Relations, specialising in conflict analysis and peacebuilding, from Sciences Po Lille, France.
