Master's Students

Selma Tenold

Master's Student

A master's student focusing on gender, activism and equality.

Selma Tenold is a master’s student of Social Anthropology at the University of Bergen. Before starting her anthropology degree, she attended UWC Atlantic College, an international school in Wales. Additionally, she did an exchange year in Spain at the University of Granada during my bachelor's degree.

Her thesis will be based on data from fieldwork that she conducted in Montevideo, Uruguay from January to June 2024. The fieldwork consisted of participatory observation and interviews with Uruguayan men who fight for gender equality through challenging local masculinity ideals. The thesis will thematically focus on how the male activists “translate” feminist discourse, responses from female activists, intersectionality, and masculinity."
