Agricultural economist focusing on the complex nexus of rural smallholders in the Global South

Tobias is a trained agricultural economist with a PhD from the University of Göttingen in Germany. His PhD work was focused on long-term trends in smallholder oil palm cultivation and possibilities for policy to induce more sustainable behavior.

At CMI, he is working on a Randomized Controlled Trial as part of the ARCS project in Ethiopia and Malawi, assessing how providing climate information services can make smallholders more resilient.
