Workshop on Sudan's universities

In collaboration with the British Institute in East Africa (BIEA), CEDEJ, and the American University in Cairo (AUC), SNAC organized a workshop on 7-8 April 2025 on “Sudan’s universities: Remembering civic struggles, promoting peaceful futures”. The event followed up on last year's SNAC workshop on the state of higher education in Sudan, and tackled staff and students’ civic struggles in the past, and how these struggles can promote peaceful futures for higher education institutions. The workshop was attended by young academics and students who presented on youth and student activism. SNAC fellows gave presentations and chaired sessions. Munzoul Assal, senior researcher at CMI, addressed the opening session and chaired a round table on the future of higher education in Sudan. A publication of the presentations from the workshop is being planned.
