    Work Package 2 for which RCN/CMI is jointly responsible together with the UNCST addresses synergies between development cooperation instruments and science and technology (S&T) partnerships with a view to supporting S&T capacity-building and poverty reduction. The objectives are:

    • To promote greater take-up of development orientated Framework Programme research, strengthening innovation;
    • To promote synergy between the European Development Fund (EDF) development goals and S&T cooperation with Africa under the EU's 7th Framework Programme (FP 7);
    • Development to strengthen the support to regional indicative programmes;
    • Identifying regional S&T bodies in Africa (for example: NEPAD, CODESIA, ANSTI) which might undertake further actions/activities related to enhanced African participation in FP 7.
