The objective of this programme is to provide a social science perspective to the study of human rights in developing countries. Current projects focus on human rights in relation to democratic processes - that is, in conflict as well as in post-conflict situations. Other important areas of research include the propensity of national courts to protect human rights; the development of international norms for human rights protection; and human rights concerns in foreign policy, trade and aid.
