On October 28 -November 1, 2024, in Kampala, Uganda, the Sudan Organization for Research and Development (SORD) organized a workshop in collaboration with SNAC. The event gathered 20 young Sudanese women from diverse backgrounds, either displaced in Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia or from east Sudan. The highly interactive workshop provided a platform for participants to share and reflect on their individual experiences, fostering active engagement and dialogue throughout the event. It included training on feminist theory, history, including African feminist movements and its application to the Sudanese context in discussions on feminist peace in the current context. The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and analytical skills of young Sudanese women in feminist theory, empowering them to collaboratively define feminism while considering diverse experiences and power dynamics related to oppression, class, and race. It encouraged participants to apply this knowledge to analyse their own experiences and the challenges faced by the feminist movement in Sudan. Additionally, the workshop provided a platform for participants to envision the future of feminism in Sudan, exploring their roles in promoting feminist ideas across generations, both during and after conflict.
