Entrepreneurship and human capital

Private sector development and market integration is a key for trade and poverty reduction in SADC as elsewhere. In order to stimulate private sector development and international trade, entrepreneurship is vital. This project will apply a micro perspective on two key questions:
i) Why do people become entrepreneurs? Which role do factors such as education, gender, structural composition of the economy, income and personal characteristics play in influencing a person’s motivation.
ii) What conditions foster market participation, firm growth and entrepreneurial success?
