The objective of the programme is to analyse the impact of trade liberalisation of financial services, telecommunications and energy services on trade and investment patterns. The programme has an empirical part where the use of information technology will be studied in Ghana, several of the SADC countries, Malaysia, Russia and Norway. The theoretical part aims at incorporating the economics of information and networks into trade and investment theory. Co-operating institutions are the University of Cape Town; the University of Malaya; the Free University of Amsterdam; the Foundation for Research in Economics and Business Administration (SNF) in Bergen.
