Muwatin, the Palestinian Institute for the Study of Democracy, is a leading research institute, think-tank, and lobbyist on democracy in Palestine. The funding of Phase III of the institutional agreement includes budget support (core funding) for MUWATIN, and funding of individual and joint research projects in a broad field of social sciences.
Corruption was the main focus of research in the third phase of the agreement. This research included various theoretical, comparative and methodological aspects of corruption, as well as corruption in the specific Palestinian context of state-building and democratisation. The agreement also included research on political Islam.
